In 1997 for the first time ever Alabama executed a white man for a lynching. It is horrible to watch young people tell Black civil rights fighters of my generation that there has been no progress. And it happens a lot.

I’m not saying there’s been no progress but there’s no denying there’s been some ugly regression too.
