re: #674 Nimed

Isn’t a zombie a curious monster? No great feats of strength. No fangs. No dissolving in the mist or transforming into an animal.

If you think about it, it’s nothing more than a thick yet exceedingly persistent individual who single-mindedly wants to kill people. That’s it. Ok, also very bad looks.

If we never heard of a zombie, who would predict the success of the concept?

I believe that in the original legend, the zombie is controlled by its creator, who can send it on errands. Sort of a golem made from a human body.

The movie version is a bit different. I think it’s a total community crisis quality of the ‘zombie invasion’ that appeals.

My favorite zombie movie is “Shaun of the Dead”. My favorite not-so-well-known zombie movie is “Chopper Chicks In Zombie Town”, which features a lesbian biker gang and blind children as well as zombies—and the hilarious moment when the bikers are left to fight the zombies alone, because the townspeople knew ‘em when they were alive, “and they were good folks”.
