The short barrel 75 on the Pz IV & Stg III was probably fairly close all things considered. Probably very close to the same amount of HE potential in the shells IIRC.

The French gun was similar to ours - acceptable for infantry support but not as good as either the German or Russian guns of similar intent.

The Sherman’s 75mm was in all but very early models more than twice as long as that of the Char B1, but it was able to fire the same HE ammo. For that reason the Allies made restoration of French 75mm HE ammo production a decent priority from the early autumn of 1944 and such rounds were being produced again in France by the end of the year.
