There was a time when news wasn’t a money making proposition. I also realize if standards are applied and enforced, a lot of networks would just dump anything close to real news and go with tabloid crap. Its not going to be anywhere close to easy, but something’s got to give here.

This is where our billionaires could be of service, Tom Steyer, Warren Buffett, etc, could create an actual news network or two, and maybe some of those out of work investigative journalists could be of help to talk them into it. People may not read much in print anymore, but there is still a huge void for real journalism without bias and leaving out something a person in power deems offensive. This requires money, which corrupts everything, but one part of this is not letting the rich guys dictate the terms of what the stations broadcast. They are strictly investors. I’m not smart enough to figure out if anything like this would work, but we have to do something. Soon.
