NYC a few years back got hit with a major snowstorm during a rush hour and it caused a Manhattan-wide traffic jam because accidents at various bridges/tunnels caused everything else to back up, which meant plows couldn’t clear the streets and it was a mess for everyone involved. It came down harder/faster than anticipated and the resulting accidents snarled traffic all over.

Chicago had something like that a few years back too.
