One of he kids in the neighborhood got sent home because of some t-shirt he was wearing—wrong color or something.

His Dad told them it was America and his kid could wear any shirt he wanted—and promptly enrolled him in the high school in the neighborhood where his ex-wife lived (boys mother). I wondered if he would have been sent home if he had been white.

Difference in demographics made all the difference.

Honestly, here in Chicagoland it often is about what symbols gangs use. Schools often need to go into detail to keep gang pressures out. It’s sick but its really not the fault of the schools.
