I’m not saying there’s been no progress but there’s no denying there’s been some ugly regression too.

None of the progress that we have made in personal freedoms, women’s, minority or LGBT rights has come about with a lot of active work, and there are a lot of people, many of whom are now in influential places working to make it all retroactive.
