Why is it coming out now?

I got a feeling that the Republicans have no further use for Trump after he signed the Tax bill.

Now that they got that he has outlived his usefulness.

Perhaps. That would make sense. But several Republicans in Congress are working very hard to protect Trump (Nunes, Perdue, Cotton, Johnson, etc.) so perhaps not.
