Been a while since I seen you; hope the snow is treating you well.

There’s almost a two foot settled base up in the mountains, a few inches down in the valley where I live. Big October storms are a double-edged sword.

I know some of y’all are excited about October snow. I’m here to say that’s not necessarily a good thing. Four words that will haunt backcountry skiers later this winter: deep persistent slab avalanches.
