That fake country twang is one of the things about country music that just makes me want to puke. I also was prejudiced early in my career when I was helping a friend arrange the vocals for a country song he was doing at some kind of long-forgotten country-music awards deal, and he looked at me at one point and said, “You can’t do that. It’s too complicated for country.” Just can’t really get into music that finds certain stuff “too complicated.”

It’s why the GOP prefers modern country music over other music.

Complicated people like Johnny Cash or Willie Nelson would not make it in modern country music.
