there is no point in applying any logic to statements like that, one can simply note who they have come from, who their target audience is, and what motivated them to make the utterance in the first place
some people are cynical exploiters, some are seriously self-deluded
It’s an attitude that has often puzzled me. Why does God need our help, if He can do everything? Are His actions contingent upon our participation? If we choose not to help, does God revoke his actions? I know these are deep theological issues, but as an atheist I find it’s much easier to assume there is no God and our only recourse is to help ourselves.
OTOH if there is a God and he did indeed choose Trump, WTF, God? Did you lose a bet with Lucifer or something?
