when I lived in Illinois, there were old-timers who had never traveled more than 5-10 miles away from their farms (and that would be to go into town on Saturday or Sunday).

My granddad who lived in rural Georgia always said “I’ll go anywhere in the world as long as I can sleep in my own bed at night.”
