The whole public discussion of the election is about how Biden is significantly ahead and how the Republicans are trying to steal it. Third parties are essentially dead. I don’t think complacency or optimism are problems here.

Good. There are environments to which a tot of paranoia is the best adaptation. Look at the runup to the 2016 election, and tell yourself “Never again.”
