Their support was only temporary, and it would have gone away in any case. The simple fact was that they did not agree with Bush on most issues and that fact reasserted itself after a few months.

Full Disclosure: I think Bush more right than wrong and I do not regret voting for him.

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the left “did not agree with Bush on most issues”. There is nothing wrong with that. The point is they supported him in the tough times after 9/11, with few exceptions.
