I recently heard someone say that things became much clearer if you replace the word ‘regulations’ with ‘protections’.

Framing the discussion is everything.

That’s why “pro-life” gets more traction than “pro-choice.” Who would be against pro-life? Only pro-death.

Instead of “pro-life” when I get into those sort of discussions it is “forced birth.” With death penalty folks (who ofttimes claim to be pro-life) I just note the hypocrisy.

Likewise with “gun control.” Control is the opposite of freedom, constitutional guarantees, &c. “Gun safety” (citing the NRA’s own rules) is much less triggering for poor conservatives and their PC speech issues.
