Trump already has that demographic sewn up. But he knows he needs to get some support from Hispanic voters or he’s fucked. Hence, this dumb idea. He’s flailing around in desperation.

I don’t see him making any inroads with Hispanic voters who don’t already support him. That train has sailed.

BUT he’s also losing white college-educated voters because they see him as either racist or appealing to racism, so he thinks maybe he can get them back with a show of not being an asshole.
