Trump won because too many people who didn’t care for his policies got complacent and thought he wouldn’t win so they’d oppose Hillary out of principle, either through not voting or voting third party (a small fraction couldn’t vote for the first woman president and did vote for Trump for that reason). As much as it’s fun to this that “Libs were mean” is a reason these people voted for Trump, they were going to vote for him. “Mean” is just one of a string of excuses.
