The Republicans aren’t being blackmailed. The base has gone full-tilt loco and taken over the party. The sane Republicans are cowards who don’t want to anger the base so they stay quiet. The crazy Republicans — who are now 85-90% of the party, both in Congress and in the rest of the world — want every bit of lunacy Trump can puke at them. They’re not being blackmailed — they’re being catered to.

Sure, it’s fucking easy to say that. Everybody’s corrupt, they’re all in on the con, yadda yadda.

But it’s pretty close to impossible that every single Republican is equally corrupt. Easy to make that charge, but I doubt it.

Blackmail is essentially exploiting a pressure point. A pressure point for any given politician would be different, and not all blackmail pertains to purely political situations.

No one is going to convince me that every single elected Republican has zero fear that they could be ruined in front of their families and peers. Sure, they’re craven, but craven enough to give up their families or standing in their community?
