re: #68 Dr Lizardo
Honestly, the only way to really stop Brexit is to revoke Article 50.
I really donāt know if thereās any political will whatsoever to do that; itās basically the nuclear option when it comes to stopping Brexit. And pushing the button - so to speak - certainly doesnāt end the whole Brexit argument either as reactionaries and extremists like Nigel Farage would stand to gain enormously from that. His new Brexit Party would have disgruntled Tories (and other Brexiteers) flocking to his banner in that scenario.
My understanding is that Corbynās plan is thus:
- Put forward āno-confidenceā vote and have the current govāt dissolved
- Install a temporary ācaretaker govātā that will call for general elections
- Have Labour run in that election on promises of holding a second referendum
- Hold the second referendum
- Profit!
Whatās that you say? What options will there be in that second referendum? Corbyn wonāt say, but I canāt imagine it will be any clearer than the first one.
