White House’s logic is pretty sound, that invoking the “constitutional solution” would create a crisis in itself because they’d be issuing bonds that Congress would declare are illegal and unconstitutional, which means they’d be treated like plague rats. And if any were sold, Congress would challenge the White House’s authority in the courts and turn the whole thing from a quest into a crusade.

Then we are stuck with default and a possible impeachment (which was being planned last time according to statements from several teabagger congresscritters. The moment they precipitate the default, blame the President for violating the Constitution on the “shall not be questioned” clause and vote to impeach).

How the fuck did we come to this?
