Working for a networking security company has made me really paranoid (because most of the good engineers are also paranoid), especially since I don’t fully understand how systems can be breached. Sometimes talking to my boss or our engineers is… well, they might as well be speaking Mandarin for all I understand. They set up my home wi-fi network, explained the basics of wireless protocols & encryption, then told me to only set the output to the % needed for stable use, don’t broadcast the SSID, etc.
Speaking of SSIDs, sometimes seeing the names of ones in my neighborhood make me LOL. A month or two ago someone had theirs named “FBI Surveillance Van #3”—yeah, like a surveillance team would broadcast that info. *eyeroll*
