Every 4 years, conservatives engage in this fantasy that it’s 1980 all over again, St. Ron has risen from the grave to lead the Republicans to a massive victory, and Democrats are following a weak leader whose ruin will become legendary.

That story is much more pathetic than normal this year. Trump is infinitely worse as a campaigner than Reagan was, and Clinton is considerably better at campaigning than Carter was.
