I read the article. It was basically don’t blame the poor borrowers and greedy banks. Instead blame the not so poor borrowers that were speculating.

Looks like a free pass to the banks to me.

As for where I’m coming from, I’m a severe bank critic that thinks the banks got away with murder in the last crash, and will do so again in the inevitable next crash.

The piece was focusing on the “don’t blame the poor” — I did not read it as absolving the banks at all, it just focused on the first half of the pair it cited as the conventional wisdom.
