In the pre-radar era, whole towns would be destroyed, in the middle of the night, and most folks didn’t know why. Nowadays it’s better understood and less and less people have died in tornadoes. Still, what about those wedge tornadoes that track for 200 miles? 2011 was a banner year for that, especially in the deep south. Devastating stuff.
