It was seen as tasteless but not as offensive as now.

And this again was an age without Facebook and Instagram and Twitter which makes any appearance, even at a party, into a matter of public record worldwide within seconds.

I was asking the African-Americans in the community for their opinion on the matter. I understand completely about societal changes in the last 35 years. However, I did want to hear about people whose race was caricatured by the Governor and AG’s outfits. I feel you’re being far too cavalier in how you’re completely dismissing it IMO because frankly you weren’t the subject of the mockery. I think the Herring bit is a little more nuanced. More juvenile stupidity than outright racist from what I am observing but done in poor judgment which my AG admits as such.
