The fact is that I think pushing the nom through is going to cost them electorally, and may ensure a Dem Senate. But the GOP is betting that the legislation they can’t block on procedural grounds will get overturned by their big bro in SCOTUS. This is very much a “lose the battle, win the war” approach.

They know they are a shrinking minority when it comes to actual popular votes and even the advantages they can tweak from gaming the system is fading.

But owning the SCOTUS for decades will give them time to retrench and rebuild Congressional majorities while they work on reclaiming the Presidency.
