I’m cynic enough to assume that stablecoins would be shady, but actually having somebody in the know describe how shady it is…astounding.

My embarrassment: this is the first I’ve heard of tether but then I’ve never been a fan of cryptocurrencies. But how can tether continue to operate without even a pretense of an audit? Of course, Enron used a legitimate large accounting firm before its implosion brought down both Enron and its accountants; and Bernie Madoff had a accountant too, who was part of the scam (and no, I don’t believe it was solely incompetence) .
