I don’t think we need to get that complicated. If they want the exemption, the “refusniks” need to explain why taking the other 17 (?) vaccines they needed to get where they are was religiously okay and this one isn’t.

Simple.

Part of the religious right’s objective is to make claims for religious exemptions immune from secular probes of their legitimacy. They believe all they should have to do is assert that they have a religious objection to a law to be exempt from its application.
