I don’t know if he’s that savvy politically, but I’ll play along. The pizza guy is a leftie tree hugger that is doing pizza’s for George Clooney too.
He calls a local paper and gives them a story about flying out to the White House to make pizza’s and off go the right wing blogs. Wait and watch the pot boil, pay the avanti infiltrators to help stir the pot a bit too.
When the MSN calls for more info, give the full story and the right looks silly. Just a conspiracy theory, to show I can play.

When I read the part about the guy having paid carbon credits to the Colorado wind farm, that (your scenario) was the first thing that popped into my mind.
