Everything you say is true, much to my disgust. However, the majority of the schism between Roman and the Orthodox churches had long before been done by the Filoque controversy en.wikipedia.org leading to schism in 1054. The damage done by the 1204 rampage in Constantinople was just more of the same hateful greed, violence and ignorance that was the
whole of the crusades in a nutshell.
