You’ve the regime muzzling all critics under it direct authority, the press that is questioning the regime being replaced with loyal sycophants, and even members of the opposition party saying that there are some fights not worth having because a nominee “promises” he’ll look into something to mollify them.

But hey, “it can’t happen here…”
