The US would be ungovernable after a real military coup, although that may not be as big of a deal as it sounds, since we are 95% of the way to being ungovernable just because Republicans are what they are.

At the moment my favorite fan fiction scenario is one where Ryan and McConnell get midnight visits from very serious people who order them to impeach tr*mp via normal Congressional processes or else face having to do it at gunpoint.

Well, it might not be ungovernable, but the overwhelming majority of nations who suffer a military coup take a long time (if ever) to return to things like civil rights and democratic norms.

We don’t want a military coup. This needs to be solved through our civil institutions.
