Still not up to watching Ken Burns Vietnam doc but getting close. I know a lot of you have seen it. How is it moving along? Don’t worry about spoilers, I know how it ends.

I’ve watched the first two segments so far, up to 1963 and the JFK assassination. I’ve learned several things I never knew before, since I was only 7 when JFK died. For example, the incredibly corrupt Diem regime,which got so bad the USA told the South Vietnamese generals, do what you will, we have no say in the matter.

Several of the US experts interviewed said it was obvious from the very beginning that a war with the North was a losing proposition, but no president wanted to admit to it. So, we stayed with it far longer than was logical.
