I’m an expert on the psychology and anthropology of violence, and a card-carrying member of the “beaten as a kid to be made compliant” club.

What I don’t like is people tossing this kind of speculation off on Twitter as part of a schadenfreude party.

“Kid was beaten until he accepted his parents worldview” is an unpalatable followup to “He’s too stupid to understand that he’s been beaten (on Twitter screaming) and thus will keep getting owned (in Twitter screaming)” That adult Don Jr is a raging shitheel and it’s quite possible that it is a family system issue doesn’t change that you’re not expressing sympathy or even explaining him, you’re shit-talking him and his father with a convenient, semi-erudite club.
