There is a cottage industry amongst the Reason Foundation types that FDR made the Depression worse. There is a conspiracy theory from the Free Republic types that FDR knew about Pearl Harbor in advance. And there is a major industry promoting Reagan as winning the Cold War, forgetting Truman, Eisenhower, JFK, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter and ahem Bush.

FDR had the greatest challenges. Only Lincoln and Washington contend. No one else comes close to these three.
