Seems simple enough.

Punditry reinforces opinion.

There is a fundamental disconnect in the GOP base about stuff that has to be done in order for other stuff to happen.

The base loved the war and the tax cut - egged on by the media who assured them that they can have their cake and eat it. No one can have their cake and eat it.

(yes the liberals do it too - but this is a thread about the decline of conservatism which is why i addressed it)

I guess what I am saying is simple, you skewer pundits for being exactly what they are. That’s weird. And sort of a straw argument. If a pundit acted like you suggested, they wouldn’t be any sort of pundit. That’s all I was saying.
