Please. We argue with God. We get right up in his face and tell him he’s making a mistake and needs to change his policies…

But also, God argues with us.

And that’s part of a lot of Christian tradition as well, but I think Dr. Laura is talking about the very intellectually lightweight part of the Protestant world, where God’s love is not only unconditional, but doesn’t obligate you to do anything, or examine your own actions, and sin sort of doesn’t exist any more for people like you. That’s what attracted her.

I don’t mean to be a jerk about Protestants, or being born again, or salvation or anything like that…but it’s my observation that there’s a brand of evangelical social conservative who’s obsessed with how much God loves THEM, and how concerned God is with everyone ELSE’S behavior. And I think that’s what Dr. Laura wanted, and felt lacking in Judaism.

It is lacking in Judaism, thank God.
