The Panama Papers data dump provided the US government with a lot of information about Putin’s shell corporations. No doubt they know even more details than the Papers revealed.

Hurting Russia financially will not go over well among Trump’s Cabinet, since many of them have financial ties to Russia, including Donnie himself. His creditors might demand accelerated payments of his loans.
