My brother, who lives in Bogota, asked a guy at a party what’s up with the prejudice against the coastal Columbians (where more Black people live). He said, ‘Oh, those people. They’re so lazy and will never amount to much.’ My brother said, ‘There are people in my country who feel that way about your whole country, in fact, your whole continent.’

I believe it. I’ve heard about it in Peru second hand from my brother and he says there’s a lot of discrimination towards indigenous people too.
