True. Condolence messages ought to be formulaic: he should have left off the bit after “…if people understand politics…”. I’m guessing he meant to have it read as a compliment to the late Rep. Dingell, but - as usual with Trump - it just comes across as awkward and dumb. Which is OK for tweets directed at his awkward-and-dumb political fans; less so to a bereaved family.
