It’s less a new problem and more an existing one getting worse. The acceptance and promotion of GOP bad faith arguments, in conjunction with the demonization and minimization of the press has been with us since at least the days of St. Ron, all Trump did was raise both to their (illegal) conclusions. Where once the GOP was content to use small lies to sell bigger ones, and mutter about the “liberal press” whenever caught in those lies, now they openly wage war with the media to sell those big lies to an increasingly desperate party base.

Yeah, Reagan’s asshole behavior hasn’t gotten enough coverage which is why I’m glad his ugliness got exposed on those Nixon tapes and later his administration’s lie about the genocide in El Salvador done by their guy in the name of anti-communism.
