I once upset my mother’s Irish folk session (they’ve been meeting every week for over twenty-five years) when I was visiting by breaking into “Classical Gas” on the hammered dulcimer.

One of my highlights of playing session music came in Carrick-on-Shannon, Ireland, at a bluegrass session. One of the customers said how much she appreciated a change from all that “dum-dee-diddly shit” thy are always playing.
