Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. You cannot be for civil rights and support the filibuster. They are simply incompatible concepts.

And every time either Manchin or Sinema make the claim that they back civil/voting rights, they’re lying. They’re putting a racist procedure to deny civil and voting rights above that of those actual civil and voting rights.

imo it’s worse because they are not protecting or supporting the filibuster.
filibuster means talking. i am not being pedandic.

this new thing - declaring a filibuster and not having to stand and talk is a, more or less, contemporary morph.

though it’s not a ‘variant’. it’s a fundamentally different mechanism and it has fundamentally different effects. it should have a new name.

no one seems to want to recognize that maintaining the current status quo is not protecting the filibuster and again, is way, way worse.
