Like I said last thread, a lot of these, like Kristol, are hoping the Democrats can save the Republican party. If the Democrats can just to “the one right thing” then things will go back to how they were.

Nobody can seriously believe anything that stupid. So I assume Kristol etc. are just Republican liars playing the both-sides game at times like this when the GOP is particularly difficult to defend.

Admittedly, I get the temptation to believe there is some simple way to retreat from this precipice we’re on in the US, but I don’t think that’s possible.
