re: #744 HoosierHoops

Growing up in Napa Valley.. I’ve had my fill of wine snobs.. Pretentious rich pricks that come to your parents house twirling the stem between their thumb and fore finger and commenting on the clarity and smelling bouquet…
I’m the luckiest guy in the world..To grow up around the world-wise that know all things… They are all so full of bullshit…Trust me on this..
I’d be a friend of any lizard here than a Hollywood director that owns a winery in Napa and talks shit about food or wine all night..
Any day and twice on Sunday
/I got stories…hehehehe

Well there are snobs and then there are snobs who actually know what they are talking about. I don’t claim to know wine beyond what goes well in certain dishes that I cook - and what I tend to like… However, more than once I have gotten a good recommendation from people who know their stuff.

In the scotch world, I call it the Chivas Regal effect… There used to be tons of yuppie scum who felt that the big shiny box and big add campaign made this into the pinnacle of scotch… proof that if you over charge to the gullible and take on airs you will make money…

I just let twits be twits…

Though to be fair to Jim in Virginia, root beer and vodka, would not be my first choice of beverage.
