The long-range forecast for summer in the Czech Republic is supposed to be the hottest on record, according to the meteorologists here. And last summer was damned hot. Temps get above 35 C here and people start dropping. Air conditioning is pretty much non-existent aside from the most modern office buildings.

I am lucky that my girlfriend lives in a first-floor apartment in Frankfurt that stays shady and never got above 25°C during last summer’s heatwave. I live in an old farmhouse with thick walls that also stays shaded for most of the day, and being out in the country, it at least cools off nicely at night.
