An “aspirational working class” would be one that is willing to adapt to a new economy and be re-educated for future-proof industries, not dreaming of the good old days when any high-school grad could get a well paid factory or mining job with benefits and support a family from it.

Shit, my grandfather knew that and he’d be 89 tomorrow. He struggled in school. Was drafted for Korea and then went to trade school for brick masonry. The working class can and should adapt. This isn’t the economy of the past.
