It can’t get any worse than this: The number 1 song when I turned 14 was Sukiyaki by Kyu Sakamoto. The bad part is that “Sukiyaki” was a nonsensical (and probably racist) English language market title given to what was actually a Japanese protest song (Ue o Muite Arukō” (上を向いて歩こう, “I Look Up As I Walk”).

I will see your Sukiyaki, and raise with Torn Between Two Lovers by Mary MacGregor, the #1 hit on my 14th birthday!
