I think the timing was set up by the WH. Announce the pres was going to Game 5, then push the button for the Baghdadi raid the day before. Pat himself on the back all over TV Sunday morning, and then show up at the game. Reminds me of the Reagan WH pushing the launch of Challenger to coincide with the SOTU address. I am as sure today as I was then that they pushed that launch when it should have been pulled for warmer weather. Corrupt b*%^&*ds

IMO, yes. The crucial o-rings were too cold to stand the pressure. If that’s a CT, convince me otherwise! [grin]

I’m not going to put that completely on Reagan; everything I’d ever read or heard about what happened to Challenger boiled down to NASA managers getting “go fever”, even when their own engineers and contractor personnel basically begged them not to launch at those air temps.
