Movies like 2012 or Moonfall are basically just Big Dumb Movies, popcorn-munching spectacles that really don’t merit any serious thought. The “science” in 2012 was, to put it mildly, laughable.

But if you just switch off the noodle and let that sweet, sweet suspension of disbelief wash over you, disaster films can be enjoyable enough. Two of my faves are When Time Ran Out and The Swarm, a couple of stinkers from Irwin Allen but still fun to watch examples of the “so bad it’s good” film.

Honorable mention: Airport ‘77.
